Castle Towers Shopping Centre is a long-standing retail and entertainment precinct in Northwest Sydney. The centre aimed to undertake a long-term expansion, including the possibility for residential or hotel towers to be built in the future.

Contracted by Benmax in 2017, Total Insulation supplied and installed the pipe insulation & cladding works for two new major plant rooms, as well as existing plantroom refurbishment and extensive kilometres of new pipework serving the existing shopping centre.

The plantrooms required polystyrene pipe insulation and full Colorbond cladding on all insulation components. Each plantroom comprised of 600mm steel chilled water headers, up to 10 chilled water pumps and four new chillers. The project involved highly technical cladding elements, which Total Insulation were able to solve through prefabricated works out of our Factory in Melbourne. This not only helped with the quality of our sheathing works on-site, but also ensured a control of supply through our own manufacture and freight.

Other technical areas of the project included time critical night shifts, working on suspended scaffolding and the complications that come with working on industrial sized steel pipe.

A successful project for all involved, the early works project was completed over 2+ years. It would be hard to find more aesthetically appealing plantrooms in NSW or nationwide.
