In 2023, Total Insulation was contracted by AG Coombs to undertake insulation and cladding works for the South Dynon Train Maintenance Facility, which services V/Line. Our scope encompassed insulating both rigid and flexible ductwork using rockwool and TTP010-C Fibreglass Cloth—a unique product tailored for high-temperature industrial application. Additionally, we were tasked with sheathing exposed ductwork insulation on the roof with galvanised steel cladding. These tasks demanded meticulous attention to detail to ensure a secure fit for the large duct.

Prior to commencing the project, our team members were required by the South Program Alliance to obtain RIW (Rail Industry Worker) cards, along with completing various qualifications and courses necessary for working around live rail lines. Training included programs such as Shifting Into Next Gear, TrainingSafeSpine/SafeMind workshops, and the South Dynon TMF site induction.

The project was completed successfully, and our involvement in simultaneous projects for the Metro Tunnel and MURL Tunnels has equipped Total Insulation with invaluable experience and capabilities to tackle a wide range of rail projects in the future.
