The Alkimos Aquatic Centre job
The new Alkimos Aquatic and Recreation Centre in Perth's northern suburbs is a full aquatic and recreation facility. Pools use a lot of heat. Our WA team insulated the plant that makes and moves it.
The scope covered a new heating hot water plant room and the central energy plant room. It also took in the chilled water and heating hot water pipework, the heat recovery services, and fire rating where it was needed.
Aquatic centres are warm, humid buildings, so the insulation and its finish have to stand up to that for the life of the building.
An aquatic centre like the Alkimos Aquatic Centre runs its plant hard, because the pools and the building need heat all year. For that reason, heat recovery and heating hot water insulation matter more here than on most buildings. Every metre that loses heat costs money to run. In addition, plant rooms are busy spaces, so the insulation and cladding were finished to stand up to maintenance as well as heat.
