Shutdown insulation over Christmas
This job had to be done over Christmas, while the site was offline. The program was tight and fell at one of the busiest times of the year, so the coordination with every other trade had to be right.
New pumps, chillers and heat pumps were insulated and clad in aluminium, the pipework that was kept was re-lagged and re-clad, and the insulation was upgraded to suit the new systems.
We insulated the headers in full and fitted new external cladding, and in the clean room areas selected pipework was clad in PVC to suit the cleaning.
Shutdown insulation leaves no room for delays, because the site has to be running again when the shutdown ends. For that reason, materials and cladding were ready before the work started, and the crew worked to the same program as the mechanical trades. In addition, the clean room areas needed PVC cladding that can be wiped down. As a result, the new plant went back into service insulated, clad and on time.
