Australian Museum external ductwork
External ductwork in 100 mm glasswool, finished in a double skin Colorbond cladding system.
The Australian Museum job
Our NSW team insulated the external ductwork at the Australian Museum in Sydney with 100 mm glasswool and finished it in a double skin Colorbond cladding system.
External ductwork is much more than the straight lengths. The falls, joints, penetrations and fittings all have to be right, or water gets in and the insulation stops working. Every transition, weatherhead and access section on this job was made to suit.
The Colorbond colour was chosen to suit the building, so the ductwork sits well on a landmark site and stays protected for the long term.
The Australian Museum is a landmark, so the ductwork on the roof had to look right as well as perform. For that reason, the Colorbond colour was chosen to suit the existing building. In addition, a double skin cladding system adds strength and keeps the insulation dry in Sydney weather. Finally, every transition and weatherhead was made to suit the duct, so there are no gaps for water to get in.
Our scope
- 100 mm glasswool insulation to external ductwork
- Double skin Colorbond cladding system
- Custom made transitions, weatherheads and access sections
