The Maidstone Tram Depot job
The new Maidstone Tram Depot is one of the largest transport projects in Victoria, and we ran the full insulation and cladding package across the facility's mechanical services.
The specification called for high density Rockwool for fire, acoustic and thermal performance, and our own Melbourne factory made the sheet metal cladding, so it fitted exactly and arrived when the crew needed it.
The program was tight, because commissioning dates depended on it, and we had to coordinate the work across several services at once. It is a good example of what our crews and our own fabrication can do together on a big infrastructure job.
On the Maidstone Tram Depot, high density Rockwool did three jobs at once: fire, acoustic and thermal performance. Because the cladding came from our own factory, the factory turned any change on site around quickly instead of waiting on a supplier. In addition, a depot is a working industrial building, so the finish had to stand up to knocks and maintenance as well as look right. As a result, the package was ready for commissioning on program.
