Melbourne Grammar Centre for Humanities

A new five storey school building: chilled and heating hot water, FCUs, chillers, heat pumps and the central energy plant.

Melbourne, VIC

The Melbourne Grammar job

The Centre for Humanities is a new five storey building for Melbourne Grammar School, and we insulated its mechanical services from the plant room up.

The scope covered the chilled water and heating hot water pipework, the fan coil units on each floor, and the chillers, heat pumps and central energy plant.

School work runs around the school, so the work was planned to keep the site safe and the program on track.

At Melbourne Grammar, the new building's heating and cooling start in the central energy plant and reach every classroom through the pipework and fan coil units. For that reason, every part of the system needs insulation that keeps the energy where it belongs. In addition, five storeys of fan coil units mean a lot of repeated detail, so the crew worked floor by floor to keep the finish consistent.
