St John of God Subiaco Hospital

Stage 2 at St John of God Subiaco Hospital is part of the hospital's long term capacity upgrade: the infrastructure it needs to grow. Four new chilled water mains feed the upgraded central energy plant, running from the existing rooftop plant in the old building, through the sky walk and into the new car park and main plant room. We insulated every metre and clad it all in aluminium.

With over 2,000 metres of insulated and clad chilled water pipework, new fan coil units and AHUs, and custom metal cladding made for the external fans, it is one of the bigger hospital packages our WA team has run.

A large part of the work had to be done during planned car park shutdowns, in a working hospital. That meant detailed planning with the project team so each milestone was hit safely, without getting in the way of patients and staff.

All of the cladding on SJOG Subiaco is aluminium, which is our standard finish on Perth projects because it is light, neat and does not rust. For example, the runs across the sky walk and through the new car park are out in the open, so the cladding protects the insulation from the weather and from knocks as well as giving an even finish. As a result, the hospital has new chilled water mains that are built to last as it grows.
